Originally a church - the facade is still beautifully gothic - the Limelight is now a pulsating, heaving den of dance activity. Clubbers thrill to the blasphemous wall of noise and light beneath the former church dome. Upstairs is the Gallery Bar where the not so energetic can rest their weary limbs and spy on proceedings on the dance floor. This is one of the better mainstream clubs, and on Sundays, an alternative tradition of church going sees followers flock to underground drum and bass bonanza Metalheadz, hosted regularly by Goldie. Guest DJ's are always highly esteemed and unannounced before the night, and range from past masters laying down a classic set, to the deeper, newer strain, from among whichever of Goldie's mates turn up on the night to pick over their collective record crates together. Wednesdays sees Planet Earth ramming and jamming to a trash poptastic night of music from the 70s and 80s.
