Standing on the site of a 18th Century tavern, Ye Olde Mitre, is tucked away off Holborn Circus. It offers welcome relief to the stressed out City workers who venture in to escape the hustle and bustle of most bars in the area. Showing their wisdom by refusing to pump out piped music, or even install a juke box, Ye Olde Mitre's intimate, dark, panelled corners and good selection of traditional ales make it something of a haven for those that don't want to jostle for position at the bar and like to be able to hear themselves think.
